Age spots are the discolorations that appear mostly on the hands and face as we age. These are pigment deposits resulting from an accumulation of sun exposure.
Laser technology can erase age spots. Over-the-counter bleaching creams that contain either hydroquinone or kojic acid aren’t going to perform any miracles, but they aren’t harmful either. They help to lighten the appearance of age spots. They do take time and their effect is mild. Follow label directions and discontinue use if they irritate your skin.
Some people have reported success with an old-fashioned treatment for age spots—castor oil. Simply rub the oil on the spots a couple times a day for several weeks and see if it helps to fade the spots.
What are Candida die-off symptoms and how can I minimize the discomfort? Candida die-off is also known as the Herxheimer reaction. As large amounts of yeast die, the organism dumps it’s toxic contents into your system, thereby overloading your detoxification pathways. This causes some pretty challenging symptoms including brain fog, intense sugar cravings, fatigue, headache, joint and muscle soreness, gas/diarrhea, blurry vision, irrational anger or flu-like symptoms. Itchy, irritated, inflamed skin is quite common, and maddening. Here’s where prebiotics, probiotics, vitamin E and astaxanthin are helpful. The combination can be soothing for anyone with irritated skin.
Enzymes that help break down the yeast and rid the body of toxic by-products can be enormously helpful for individuals experiencing Candida infection and/or die-off reactions. The formula that I recommend for this is Enzymedica’s Candidase which is sold at health food stores nationwide. It contains cellulase which is an enzyme the body needs (and does not make) which kills yeast by destroying the cell wall, composed of cellulose. Candidase also contains protease, known worldwide to support the body’s healing process by getting rid of yeast and immune complexes which cause illness and inflammation.
What foods should I avoid and how should I eat?
-Anything with sugar, because sugar is food to fungus.
-Anything made with yeast such as bread, muffins, pastries, etc.
-All grains and starches (at least at the outset of your diet) such as pasta, rice, corn, wheat, quinoa, amaranth, millet, buckwheat, oats and barley.
I recommend the diet plan outlined by one of the world’s leading authorities on fungus, Doug A. Kaufmann, who wrote eight books on it! He’s also the host of one of the most popular holistic health shows in America, “Know the Cause.” Doug has researched the subject of fungus-induced disease and mycotoxins for decades and helped millions of people get back to health so I always tell people to follow his Phase One diet plan explained in The Fungus Link and eat recipes in the book, Eating Your Way to Good Health which he authored with Jami Clark, RN. There are free recipes and television programs about Candida archived at his website, knowthecause.com. Check out candidasupport.org and for more healthy recipes try Candida Albican Yeast-Free Cookbook by Pat Connolly.
How come some people in there 60s look closer to 45. There is emerging evidence that a class of proteins called sirtuins are the cause. Sirtuins send signals to our cells that work to combat the effects of aging. They slow down the process of cell death and give your body more time to repair DNA damage. Enter resveratrol. Resveratrol activates a gene that “turns on” our sirtuins. How do you get resveratrol to help reduce wrinkles? Start drinking red wine, eating plums, grapes, blueberries, pigmented berries, pomegranate juice, acai, and cranberries. Resveratrol is an antioxidant and it’s 100 percent natural. One study shows it has 17 times more anti-aging power than man-made CoQ10. Resveratrol removes free radicals that damage skin cells. It’s those damaged skin cells which lead to wrinkles and dull skin. Not just that… it breaks down collagen to give your skin that healthy, youthful glow.
I recommend getting resveratrol through supplements. Order Resveratin & Regenemax
RegeneMax is a patented choline-stabilized formulation of orthosilicic acid (OSA). Only when stabilized does OSA deliver on its promise of activating the human body’s production of the three beauty proteins: Collagen, Elastin, and Keratin. RegeneMax delivers 5 mg of the active ingredient in proprietary microsphere-filled capsules.
Resveratin: Methylated resveratrol (pterostilbene), in conjunction with controlled delivery resveratrol and quercetin, leads to improved uptake and stability with more pronounced benefits. Unlike other formulas, Resveratin’s exclusive methylated bio-optimized formula enables full resveratrol absorption in the body. This formulation is exciting new patent-pending technology delivered exclusively to XYMOGEN. With Resveratin you get a complete bioflavonoid complex with resveratrol, quercetin and pterostilbene to take advantage of three antioxidants with known synergisms. These compounds are being extensively studied in the areas of cardiovascular health, cell replication, capillary integrity and aging.

I’m still recommending the eat like a cave man Paleo Diet to lose weight, build muscle and feel healthy. The “Paleolithic”, or Paleo diet consists only of meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and mushrooms. I have way too many clients that are getting great workouts, but few that follow a healthy diet. I offer individual diet recommendations to all of my patients, and most of the time the program is the Mediterranean Diet or Paleo Diet, or a combo of the two.
I really want my clients to feel healthy. I see so many people with all kinds of problems, especially inflammation, arthritis, over- weight issues, aches and pains, and all of these problems can be helped with diet and supplements. After 3-4 weeks on the diet, I see clients able to drop excess weight and achieve better body fat percentages.
The key to the Paleo diet is to avoid all refined sugars, grains, dairy products, beans, legumes and anything processed. Though difficult, sticking to a Paleo diet fits the human genetic makeup better than most modern diets because it represents the foods that our ancestors ate and thrived on. The Paleo diet has other benefits, including helping to clear up acne.
The Paleo Diet might not entirely clear up acne in every single person who has acne, but it will almost always have an important positive effect on blood sugar and weight.
Call me for a session so we can individualise a program for you.
I get a lot of nutritional questions about skin, bones, hair and nails. There are supplements to support the growth, development & regeneration of connective tissue (bones, cartilage, etc), slow down the aging of your skin and reverse the signs of aging – without drugs or surgery.
Your skin is the largest organ of your body. When it’s maintained properly with effective nutrition & skincare, it can lead to an overall healthier and younger look.
Most MD’s & skin-care specialist concentrate on creams, lotions, and ointments for skin. I concentrate on nutrition…working on the inside out.
I think we are all concerned about wrinkles, age spots, red skin, and dry and sagging skin.
Proper supplements work on a cellular level to…
- Visually reduce lines and wrinkles.
- Plump up your skin’s elasticity and moisture.
- Reverse sun and aging spots.
For the past year, I’ve been recommending RegeneMax by XYMOGEN. I’ve seen some dramatic results especially for thinning hair, getting nails to break less, and improving skin.
It’s based on something called Choline-Stabilized Orthosillicic Acid and Silicon.
Here’s how they work. Through a patented process, RegeneMax allows silica to be absorbed. Silicon is the second most prevalent element after oxygen. When you maintain good silica levels, your skin will stay supple, nails harden, and hair looks fuller.
Most of the women I know get a big thrill when somebody pegs their age as much younger than it truly is. A single 5-year deduction in age can put a smile on their face for days. After all, who doesn’t like to find themselves on the receiving end of a compliment like that?
Even I get a kick out of the times I’m told I look younger than my years. It’s simple human nature. We feel young, we think young, we act young… and we want to LOOK young, for as long as possible.
I have lots of patients concerned about anti-aging. I want to help clients look young, beautiful, and sexy. I recommend RegeneMax because I’ve seen it help:
- increase the level of moisture in your skin
- decrease brittle nails
- improve skin tone and elasticity
- improve hair thickness
I think you are going to love the way your face looks after using RegeneMax for 3 months. Each bottle contains 60 capsules. Take 1 capsule two times per day.

Scores of women clamored for a spot in the landmark clinical trial at the Vrije University in Brussels, Belgium. Letters poured in. Phones rang off the hook. E-mails jammed the system.
What was going on? Word had leaked that university scientists were about to test a natural compound that had the potential to reduce age-related fine lines and wrinkles, thicken hair, and strengthen nails. All this with a natural supplement!
The natural compound at the center of the “sign-me-up” frenzy was choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid, the foundation of RegeneMax formulas.
Ultimately, fifty women were chosen to participate. Half were asked to take two doses per day of RegeneMax; the other half, two doses per day of a placebo. No other aspects of the women’s lifestyles – diet, cosmetics, daily routines, etc. – were to change.
At the end of the twenty week study, the results were remarkable! The Vrije University research scientists had shown – with actual measurements – that RegeneMax could provide users with dramatic beauty-enhancing benefits. Here’s what they found:
SKIN: RegeneMax reduced fine lines and wrinkles by a full 19%. Further, the skin was dramatically more resilient in just the first twenty weeks.
HAIR: RegeneMax significantly increased hair thickness. Hair demonstarted greater volume and more body.
NAILS: RegeneMax dramatically strengthened nails. Nails became more break-resistant.

Almonds contain vitamin E, which supports healthy skin and helps defend against sun damage. Volunteers who consumed about 20 almonds daily and then were exposed to UV light burned less than those who took none. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects against the ravages of free radicals.
Canned Tuna contains Selenium. This nutrient features immune support & helps preserve elastin, a protein that keeps your skin smooth and tight. The antioxidant is also believed to buffer against the sun (it stops free radicals created by UV exposure from damaging cells).
A supplement called E-400 Selenium by Metagenics features selenium & natural-source vitamin E.
Flaxseeds & small cold water fish contain omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to support the healthy function of multiple body systems. Omega 3’s help erase spots and iron out fine lines. The British Journal of Nutrition reported that participants in one study who ate about half a teaspoon daily of omega-3s in 6 weeks experienced significantly less irritation and redness, along with better-hydrated skin. Salmon is also a great source of omega 3. My recommendation for omega 3 fatty acids is EPA-DHA 720 from Metagenics.
Cooked Tomatoes contain Lycopene, the phytochemical that makes tomatoes red. Lycopene helps promote the healthy function and aging of cells. It also helps protect against free radical damage caused by ultraviolet rays. Cooking tomatoes helps concentrate its lycopene levels, so tomato sauce, tomato paste, and even ketchup count. Watermelon is also a good source.
Green Tea releases catechin, an antioxidant with proven anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. Research found that drinking 2 to 6 cups a day not only helps prevent skin cancer but might also reverse the effects of sun damage by neutralizing the changes that appear in sun-exposed skin.
In my own personal experience when I take a supplement called Celepro (Metagenics) which is a combination of Green Tea Leaf Extract, D-Limonene (from Sweet Orange Peel Oil), Lycopene, and Turmeric, I don’t get sunburn when I’m outside exposed to the sun.
Sweet Potatoes, Papaya, Carrots & Oranges contain vitamin C, which smoothes out wrinkles by stimulating the production of collagen, the main component of healthy connective tissue. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that volunteers who consumed 4 milligrams of C (about half a small sweet potato) daily for 3 years decreased the appearance of wrinkles by 11 percent.
Spinach contains folate which helps maintain and repair DNA. Protecting DNA may reduce the likelihood of cancer-cell growth. In a study published in the International Journal of Cancer, people who ate the most leafy greens had half as many skin tumors over 11 years as those who ate the least.
Safflower Oil & Sunflower Oil contains omega-6 fatty acids which acts as a moisturizer for people who suffer from dry, flaky, or itchy skin. They keep cell walls supple, allowing water to better penetrate the epidermis. Scientists have found that this oil may even help people who suffer from eczema.
Carrots contain Vitamin A which prevents overproduction of cells in the skin’s outer layer. That means fewer dead cells to combine with sebum and clog pores. Plus, vitamin A supports healthy epithelial tissue and reduces the development of skin-cancer cells.
Dark Chocolate contain the antioxidant Flavonols which reduce roughness in the skin and provide sun protection. In a study from the Journal of Nutrition, women who drank cocoa fortified with a chocolate bar’s worth of flavonols had better skin texture and stronger resistance to UV rays than those who drank significantly few flavonols.
The BEST supplement for the skin is REGENEMAX. It helps with wrinkles/fine lines; dry skin; thinning hair; brittle nails. Order from Xymogen @ 1-800-647-6100
Hi Dr. Tucker. I spent a lot of time in the sun and have abused my skin over the years. What vitamins or supplements should I take to help my skin look better?
The skin is the largest organ of your body. Most of the time, the body does a pretty good job of healing your skin from scorched sun, cuts, scuffs, and scratches.
Poor, abused skin can get healthier, but it needs to start on the inside. Make sure you drink plenty of water everyday.
A German research team recruited 45 healthy women between the ages of 18 and 65 and divided them into three groups. For 12 weeks, one group received a daily flaxseed oil supplement, one group received a daily borage oil supplement, and one group received a placebo. Before the intervention began, nicotinate was applied to each subject’s skin to prompt reddening and inflammation.
Results: Compared to baseline, flaxseed oil was most successful in reducing skin reddening and blood flow, while significantly increasing hydration. Borage oil prompted similar results, but not as significant as flaxseed oil. Except for a slight improvement in hydration, there was no change in skin condition in the placebo group.
I recommend a product from Metagenics called Omega-EFA. It contains alpha-linolenic acid – an omega-3 fatty acid which should help your skin.
